I think their very silence was enough to tell me. My parents didn't "say" bad things. They ignored them. By pretending "dirt" didn't exist, they kept their world "clean and pure". I knew I didn't belong in their "clean and pure" world. Never would. Silence is not always golden, is it?

I believe the sad part in all of this is that most people aren't able to move past the online "love" hunt. While I as going through this phase I found very few people worth meeting up with (unless of course I was really just in the mood for lubricated action). And the few that I did were, of course, nothing at all like their online personality.

Nothing lasted.

However, instead of getting on day after day and clicking through the masses, I thankfully was able to put down the mouse and start living an actual life. And I believe that's where most people fail. They stay glued to their monitors. They know and admit that manhunt, gay.com, etc won't find them anyone worth their time...and yet they can't stop themselves. They expect things to change without changing themselves. Its hard, but if its something you *really* want, then it worth putting in the effort.

Of course, it is rather ironic then that, after I stopped the desperate searching, I met my boyfriend via Myspace (a site I no longer use). It will be 4 years for us in January.

I would say... trying to stay out of the drama and then talking with my mom/dad/brothers about, for however crazy we are, at least we're not "that" part of the family. It's a beautiful tradition really.

They keep getting elected because, unfortunately, a big chunk of this state buys the lies of the religious right hook line and sinker.
Zurich, LGBT people aren't asking for anything "new" or "special", we're asking for the government to recognize, legally, our right to marry the person of our choosing. No one chooses to be gay, the fact that you still use that tired argument is a testament to your ignorance. Also, who are you to tell me what my "lifestyle" is?
LGBT people are indeed a minority, which is precisely why the federal government should be protecting us from the tyranny of the uninformed "majority". The campaigns in California and Maine were fueled by lies about our families and who we are and were paid for by those who would use "God" against equality and fairness.

So, if Alabama is being run by "Goober's" , "Boss Hogg", and "his cronies", against the will of the Alabama voters, how come they keep getting elected?

If the American people want all these new "entitlements", how come they consistently vote them down (recently see Maine and California)

Maybe its only a small subset of the population who choses to live a certain lifestyle and now wants the rest of the country (and world) to bow down to them. It appears to me that most American's are saying "Fine live how you want, have relationships with who you want, but don't ask to be treated special based on your decisions"

Come on Zurich, you can't just make shit up. When did Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow ever organize a protest? perhaps cover it, but not organize. Fox news has helped organize tea-bagger rallies all over the country. Their producer was even taped hyping up the crowds for better footage. If you make a claim, be able to back it up.
